How to choose toys for small children

The toy market today is literally oversaturated. At first glance, it may seem very easy to buy a toy for our little ones, because there are actually so many options. However, experts point out that the choice of toys should not be underestimated, especially for toddlers and preschoolers. Don't just choose toys based on whether you or your child likes them, but also consider safety, quality and whether the toy will sufficiently enhance your child's creativity and imagination. Toys have a much deeper purpose than just keeping a child entertained for a while.

Why are toys so important to a child?

It is said that who plays does not bother. Andït is the truth. Play is extremely important for children because it helps them understand the world, it sharpens his imagination and skills. Children are like a blank sheet of paper and have so much to learn in the course of life. And it is through toys that they learn important things, discover what those things are good for (for example, what kinds of cars there are, that cars have wheels and a steering wheel, etc.). Seemingly small things are literally crucial for a child. Parents can influence a children's development by buying them appropriate toys that will enrich them.

Toys should have the following basic characteristics:

Stimulate creativity and imagination of our children

Teach them to think and understand certain connections

Develop independence

Encourage manual skills and abilities, including speech development

How to choose toys?

When choosing toys, you don't need to study manuals or make complicated choices for each toy. However, there are still a few basic aspects you should focus on. Especially for young children of preschool age.

The first one is the age of the child. Each toy should state the age range for which the toy is suitable. Stick to this information and do not buy your child toys intended for older or younger children. This is especially true for children under the age of four. If you feel that your child is more mature and is not enjoying toys designed for their age, try to choose more carefully. Most dads often fulfil their dreams by getting their children puzzles designed for older children and putting them together themselves.

Next, focus on safety. Does the toy contain small parts? For children under the age of three, definitely don't purchase similar toys. Often it is advisable to bet on a better-known brand that guarantees quality; beware especially of street vendors who sell cheap toys but their quality is very bad.

Do not overwhelm your child with toys. A toddler does not need a room full of toys. The more toys children have, the less they play with them.

When buying toys, think about hygiene. If you're choosing a stuffed animal for a one-year-old, find out if it can be put in the washing machine. Is the toy car washable? Again, watch out for small parts that the child could potentially swallow.

Prefer good quality toys, which are although more expensive, are also more durable and safer. Such toys will last the child a long time, plus they can then be inherited by younger siblings. Buy a reasonable number of toys for each age
