Tinker horses are strong horses with rich manes, thick rooses, short backs and large hooves. The typical mottled coat colouring was purpose bred around 1900 and these horses were formerly known as magpies. Tinker horses are known for their calm, quiet and gentle nature, which has made them very popular. In Germany, the Tinker was only recognised as a separate breed in 2005.
